Old Oak Common Open Day
From 10.00 until 4.00
At Old Oak Common
We have the greatest pleasure in announcing that Project 22 along with the society stand will attend the Old Oak Common open day. Also, amazingly our Engine No.220 will be on display.
It is suspected Engine 220 started life in either D6315 or D6316, but due to a slight issue/missing paperwork etc we can’t confirm that at the moment.
The last 22 left Old Oak Common on 2nd May 1971 heading for storage and scrapping. Thus, this could be the first time in 46 years a Class 22 Engine has been at Old Oak Common.
It has been a hard-logistical task getting the engine to the open day, but we at Project 22 feel that this is a once in a life time chance for many to see the NBL/MAN Engine in the flesh so to speak, the one that will eventually power D6358.
Next year Old Oak is due to be demolished and rebuilt so it may never happen again, therefore the chance was taken to make it happen. It will be on display alongside the society stand and will be able to be observed there, so come and talk to us and ask us any questions you may have.
This is a major step forward for the group and one that will hopefully start the transformation going forward, so to everyone who has supported us thus far, this is what all your hard work and patience has achieved so far amongst others.
Depending on facilities, time and other constraints there maybe a potential of us barring the engine over on the day, this however will depend on the day/events.
